As schools throughout the country are in the midst of the month of Kindness and Respect, it is a perfect time to turn our attention and focus specifically on mindfulness and centeredness. Students have many things that pull their attention; from academics, to sports to social emotional issues with peers. When the mind is too distracted from a myriad of thoughts and ideas, it is very hard for students to singularly focus on the learning experience. Coast to Coast School Assembly Programs has an assembly program offering, aptly titled Mindfulness - Freedom Within. This is a fun and interactive program where students learn new strategies to quiet their inner selves. When this happens, students' minds are calm and clear enabling them to focus on their academics.

How does Mindfulness in a school assembly work?

Mindfulness - Freedom Within is a program that helps students regain a sense of clarity as to what truly is important. One of the main pillars of this program is gratitude.  When students recognize the positive things in their lives and focus on the things that are making a positive impact in their lives, it helps quiet and calm the mind thus enabling students to focus on their academics.

Another wonderful benefit to the school assembly program Mindfulness - Freedom Within is that the tools learned in the program can be carried over to all areas of their lives. For example, when a student perhaps has a worry on their mind, whether it be a worry about academics or friendships, Mindfulness - Freedom Within teaches students to remember to breathe and notice their surroundings.  By focusing the mind on their surroundings, and breathing oxygen rich air into their lungs, they enable their minds to calm. Once students’ minds are calm, they can then more clearly see answers to their worries. Mindfulness - Freedom Within is a program that is centering, calming and gives students tools that can last a lifetime!
